Bio Energie Lozére Project Description

The combined heat and power plant comprises two biomass fuelled superheated steam boilers (design: 29 barg / 470°C – 16.1 MWth each), which feed a steam turbine. The turbine is an extraction condensation turbine (7.5 MWel). The quantity of steam extracted is controlled and used to heat a heating condenser (extraction up to 23 MWth). Via the heating condenser the extracted heat is fed into the district heating grid. Furthermore, to cover peak loads in winter an additional superheated water boiler (10MWth) was installed. On the outside of the plant there is a re-cooling system installed for the waste steam from the turbine. During the design and construction of the plant a strong emphasis was placed on high efficiency and safety in the plant’s operation.

The commissioning phase of the plant stretched across 2009.
